Worshipping the Savior

“And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” (Luke 2:13-14 KJV)

The angel of the Lord had announced the birth of the Christ, God’s Anointed One, then heaven could no longer contain the joy and praises of God and his Christ. They had to express their worship. Something wonderful had happened. The Savior was born!

The Savior! We all need him. No one can save him/herself. The disobedience of Adam rendered all of us helpless and hopeless without a savior. God in his infinite mercy and grace, however, decided that He would rescue us. He sent the Savior!

The songwriter wrote, “O what a Savior! O hallelujah!” Hallelujah is the right response. Worship of the only one who is able to deliver us from the darkness of sin and free us from sin’s bondage. Hallelujah! Glory to God in the Highest!

This is why Christians should celebrate Christmas more than anyone else. It is why we should raise our hearts and voices in worship. Christ our Lord, the Savior was born. Hallelujah!

Christmas – the most wonderful time of the year – is about God’s gift to the human race. God gave his Son to be our Savior and Lord. He was a love gift. “For God loved the world so much that He gave his Only Son that whosoever would believe in him should not perish but have everlasting life” (Jn. 3:16).

The heavenly choir gave us a great example of how to respond to Christ’s coming. Let us join them in worship of the Savior. “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward all people.”

Dear Father, thank you for your gift of the Savior. Inspire us with new found worship of his worthy name. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN

Be encouraged today in the Savior,
