Worshipping God

NLT 1 Chronicles 16:1 So they brought the Ark of God into the special tent David had prepared for it, and they sacrificed burnt offerings and peace offerings before God.

Pastor Smith: What a great worship event this must have been. The Ark of God was restored to Israel. It represented the presence of God to them. So, consider how they must have felt and reacted. They were in the presence of the LORD once again!

8 Give thanks to the LORD and proclaim his greatness. Let the whole world know what he has done. 9 Sing to him; yes, sing his praises. Tell everyone about his miracles. 10 Exult in his holy name; O worshipers of the LORD, rejoice! 11 Search for the LORD and for his strength, and keep on searching. 12 Think of the wonderful works he has done, the miracles, and the judgments he handed down,
(1 Chronicles 16:8-12 NLT)

Pastor Smith: David is both encouraging their worship and singing his worship among them. He reminds them to sing their worship to God; to rejoice in God; to search for more of God; and to remember God’s marvelous activity for Israel.

23 Let the whole earth sing to the LORD! Each day proclaim the good news that he saves. 24 Publish his glorious deeds among the nations. Tell everyone about the amazing things he does. 25 Great is the LORD! He is most worthy of praise!
(1 Chronicles 16:23-25 NLT)

Pastor Smith: As these verses portray, worship does not occur only in the sanctuary. Worship of God also consists of telling others about him and his deeds. Worship occurs when we become so excited about God that all we can do is express it with a shout: “Great is the LORD! He is most worthy to be praised!” All that is left to be said is . . .

1 Chronicles 16:36 Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting! And all the people shouted “Amen!” and praised the LORD.

Dear Father, thank you for your presence in our lives. Grant to us the joy of a daily walk with you. Flood us with such joy until we cannot keep silent about you. This I pray in Jesus’ name. AMEN

Let us praise Gods for Christ and live to his glory,
