“I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.” Psalm 122:1 (KJV)
Ralph Waldo Emerson asked, “What greater calamity can fall upon a nation than the loss of worship?” What a joy it is to worship God in his house! Worship for the right reason is important too. If we worship only out of fear or what we can get from him, our worship will be warped. The best motive for worship is to worship God for who he is.
Worship. Going to the house of God to exalt him. What great memories! It was at the house of God that I learned to worship the God of that house. Of course, there were times in church that Mom and Dad had to redirect my attention. That was part of learning to respect God in worship.
If the ancient Jews found joy in worshipping God, how much more should we who know God through his son Jesus Christ want to joyfully worship him? We are redeemed! Praise him! He has delivered us out of all our troubles. Praise him! Shout hallelujahs aloud!
Sunday worship keeps our daily devotionals from becoming selected pieces of spiritual pie. It renews our inner being and keeps us from becoming spiritually stagnant. Come, let us go to the house of the Lord! Today, invite somebody to go to the house of God with you.
Dear Father, thank you for a place to worship you. Grant to us a burning desire to worship in your house each week. Empower us to worship you in Spirit and in Truth. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN
Be strong and courageous today invite others to the house of God,
