1 Corinthians 2:9 “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”
This morning as I looked at the calendar, I instantly thought of the “Christmas in July” sales that will entice shoppers this month. That thought brought back childhood memories. I remember how much I anticipated Christmas morning. My sister, Brenda, and I would wake up mom and dad very early to see what Santa had brought us. What excitement there was around our home on Christmas morning. The anticipated day had finally arrived. No more waiting – Christmas day had come!
After church, last night, I was singing an “oldie goldie” as I like to call it. “By and by when the morning comes, when the saints of God are gathered home, we will tell the story how we overcome, for we’ll understand it better by and by.” What a wonderful anticipation, waiting for the morning when we arrive in our new home! Something we have looked forward to since the day we made Jesus our King.
Just thinking about that day brings an excitement to me as much as my childhood expectation of Christmas did. As I think of what heaven offers, I can hardly wait for the day that all the saints are gathered home, and will be reunited with those who have gone before. In addition, we’ll see Jesus the one who gave us eternal life. What an awesome gift He has given to us! This gift is far more precious than any Christmas gift I ever received as a child.
I can hardly wait for the morning when He says, “Well done. Enter into the joy of the Lord.” More excitement than I can imagine from the first day there! Then to experience the “joy of the Lord” for all eternity, and to consider that it is only the beginning of experiencing the Father’s presence and the wonders of heaven. I’m waiting for that morning!
Dear Father, thank you for the anticipation of things you have prepared for us. Empower us with faithfulness to the end. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN
Be encouraged today in anticipation of God’s preparations,
Bobbie Smith
