The Way of God

“There is a way which seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.” Proverbs 14:12 (NAS)

As she came down the street, Cheryl almost ran over a turtle going slowly, determinedly toward the busy entrance into the neighborhood. Since she couldn’t pull over, Cheryl continued on to her own driveway, parked and ran back to pick up the turtle.

The street ended at a swamp and undergrowth. This might be the haven Turtle needed. It would certainly be safe from danger. When placed on the ground, Turtle surveyed the new environment for a few minutes then determinedly set out in the direction toward the busy intersection as before. Three times Cheryl turned Turtle around toward the swamp and each time Turtle started back in the original direction.

How many times in our lives has God stopped us, picked us up, turned us around, and pointed us away from danger toward a new direction? How many times have we struggled to return to our own way, our own direction, and our own agenda? How many times have we failed to yield to the will of Him who directs our life?

Dear Father, thank you for your concern about us. Forgive us for the times we have failed to yield to your interruptions and new directions. Help us to submit to the changes that you desire in our lives. Give us strength to release control and let your will be done. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN

Be encouraged today in the ways of God,
