“Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” 1 Peter 4:11 (NAU)
The Apostle Peter gives me an important counsel. As a leader I must be careful both how and what I speak. This is true in most situations but especially if I claim to be speaking a word from the Lord. I am not omniscient. I am simply searching for the truth, which provides sound doctrine and meaning.
In addition, I should never drive, manipulate or manage others. Peter tells me to serve them “with the strength God provides.”
Even as a servant, I cannot rely on my own power or ability.
Dear Father, thank you for your word to me. Forgive me for the times I have attempted to lead people with my own strength and ability. Empower me to both speak and serve with the strength that you provide. This I pray in Jesus’ name. AMEN
Let us praise God for his word and strength. Let us live for his glory,
Pastor Smith
