The Safety of His Name

“The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe.” (Pro. 18:10 NRS)

What a name! Wonderful, Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace, Emmanuel, Savior, the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, Jesus. Wonderful name! Marvelous name!
“O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!” (Psalm 8:1 KJV).

With passion for the Lord, Solomon wrote, “For your love is better than wine, your anointing oils are fragrant, your name is perfume poured out; therefore the maidens love you” (Sol 1:2-3 NRS). Say his name with love and passion, and the atmosphere of any room will change. It is like the perfume a woman wears. When she walks into a room everyone there is affected.

Therefore, like dear children, we who love his name follow him and walk in our love. Christ also loves us, and has given himself for us at Calvary — our offering and our sacrifice to God — a fragrant odor (Eph. 5:1-2 SyS paraphrase).

Unto us who believe in him, Jesus is precious: but unto those who refuse to believe, He is the stone which the builders rejected. Yet, He is made the head of the corner. To those who reject the Word of God, Jesus is a stone over which they stumble, because they are disobedient (see 1Pe 2:7-8).

Still, despite the disobedience, the unbelief, and the world’s rejection God’s plan of salvation remains the same. “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Act 2:21 NIV) because “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” (Act 4:12 NIV).

Dear Father, thank you for Jesus Christ our salvation. Grant that we may be faithful to the end. This I pray in the name of our Lord and Savior. AMEN

Be encouraged today in the safety of Jesus,
