“The LORD repay you for what you have done, and a full reward be given you by the LORD, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge!” Ruth 2:12 (ESV)
What a blessing! Boaz, Naomi’s wealthy relative, pronounced this upon Ruth, Naomi’s daughter-in-law. He was appreciative of all she had done for her mother-in-law. Boaz could have been haughty and ignored her because she was not on his social level. Yet, in humility, he expressed his appreciation by proclaiming a blessing from God upon her.
Is it any wonder that God had blessed this man so well? He was fertile ground for sowing seeds of blessings in other fertile ground. He was not flamboyant with his wealth. Rather, he was silent and inconspicuous but always ready to receive good seed and share it with others. He could recognize fertile ground in others and was always ready to sow seeds of goodness into their lives. He was more fruitful because he was truly fertile himself. Nothing could ruin his seed. Nothing could degrade his seed. Nothing could disgrace his seed. His seed came from the Lord and reproduced for the Lord. Nothing could shatter his peace and serenity. O the joy of such a refuge!
Dear Father, thank you for your grace and mercy. O Lord, teach us your holy ways, and plant in us an obedient spirit. May our souls delight in your will every day. Help us to follow your example and empower spiritual growth along our path. Protect us from every evil and deliver us from all temptations. Bless us with your presence. Let your hand continuously be upon us. May we never be a pain to others. Enable us with a submissive spirit so that you may complete your work in us. I pray this in Jesus’ name. AMEN
Let us praise God for his plan and live for his purpose,
