The Overflowing God

“It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.” Lam. 3:22-23 (KJV)

Some days are cloudy and others are full of sunshine and joy. When skies are clear, what joy fills our soul! No complaints. No trouble on the horizon. God is on the throne and all is right in our world.

Yet, cloudy days happen. Doubts, Fears, and Melancholy comes calling. And during those cloudy times, our minds are tested to the limit. We hardly know what to say much less how to pray those clouds away.

Then, the Spirit tunes in and alters the signal we are receiving. He comforts us in our mourning and reminds us of the hope we have in God. Except for hope our hearts would break, but the Spirit calls something to mind and encourages us with the ground of our hope.

God is a merciful Lord. He is a compassionate Savior. His mercies and compassion are new every day. Early in the morning, He issues fresh mercy. We wake up to His new compassion for that day. Hallelujah to our God! Glory to the Merciful God, the compassionate God! He never fails us!

Our God is the Overflowing God! He isn’t simply faithful and committed to us. His faithfulness is abundant and overflows everything that can possibly discourage or sadden or make sorrowful. He overflows all our cloudy days.

Dear Father, thank you for being faithful to us. We know that your new compassion and mercy delivers us from destruction. Your overflowing faithfulness overwhelms us. Praise your holy name! AMEN

Be encouraged today in God who overflows with faithfulness,
