“But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions — it is by grace you have been saved.” Ephesians 2:4-5 (NIV)
“Great love”; “Rich in mercy”; “Made us alive”. These describe our God. “Dead in transgressions” describe us before we accepted Christ as Savior and Lord. And “made us alive” explains the act of our loving, merciful God who could not leave us in our helpless state. Paul’s conclusion: God saved us by his grace!
What a terrific, encouraging message. Think about it. Our circumstances — our transgressions — had killed us spiritually. We were hopelessly dead in our transgressions and helpless to effect any change. Yet, our God is love. Our God is rich in mercy. Our God is the Living God and resurrects the dead. Our God is the God of grace.
Because our God loved us, he applied his mercy to our circumstances. He made us alive with Christ. He saved us by his grace!
“Grace, grace, God’s grace. Grace that will cover all my sin.” Aren’t you glad that you have experienced God’s grace. If you have not asked him to apply his grace to you, do so now. Today is the day of your miracle!
Dear Father, thank you for the miracle of your grace. Grant that we may be faithful. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN
Be encouraged today in the miracle of God’s grace,
