“The lamp of the LORD searches the spirit of a man; it searches out his inmost being.” Proverbs 20:27 (NIV)
Jim followed the nurse down the hall to the examining room. After his vitals were all recorded, Jim waited quietly until the doctor arrived. Greeting him courteously the doctor asked, “What’s the problem, Jim?”
“Well, I not sure. That’s what I’m here for. Give me a thorough physical exam, please. I’ve been feeling a bit sluggish lately.” Jim replied.
The doctor took his light and peered into ears, nose and throat. Then he took his stethoscope and listen to Jim’s heart, lungs, abdomen and back. Well, to put it mildly, he put Jim through the examination mill . . . head-to-toe. When all the test results were returned, he told Jim that he was in good physical condition.
Jim just need to get more exercise and watch what he ate . . . in other words, get some exercise and call me when you really get sick. Could it be that is our problem?
Maybe we just need to exercise ourselves spiritually. Spend some time in the presence of God. Allow the Word of God to examine us. “The lamp of the Lord” — his MRI — can identify our innermost needs.
Dear Father, thank you for your spiritual examinations. “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” (Psalm 139:23 KJV) This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN
Be encouraged today by the lamp of the Lord,
