“Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.” (2Corinthians 9:15-1 KJV)
Have you ever had a need for which you solicited the prayers of every church and Christian within your sphere of existence? And when the Lord heard and answered prayer, did you call all those churches and Christians to thank them for their prayerful support. Did you call them and give a praise report?
On most of our church prayer lists, the Requests column is longer than the Praise column. Is it possible that our personal devotions are similar? Is the “help me lord” list longer than the “thank you Lord” list?
Perhaps we should change that. Maybe we could focus more on the answered prayers than on the not-yet-answered ones. Now I know this is difficult because as humans we focus on the need of the moment and our present concerns. So, I am not suggesting a new change of habits, rather I am refreshing our memory to give thanks for all God’s blessings.
And the most wonderful gift of all is God’s gift of grace! Grace is so marvelous that we are at a loss to adequately describe it. No tongue can tell its power. No mind can imagine its glories. No fantasy can span its limits. Yet, God’s love has prepared it for anyone and everyone who will believe on the name of him who is the only begotten of the Father (John 3:16).
God’s gift is absolutely indescribable! But we can thank him for it, even if we don’t fully understand it. Thanks be unto God!
Dear Father, thank you for your indescribable gift! Empower us to live in such a manner that others may see your gift in us and desire to have it too. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN
Be courageous today thanking God for his grace,
