“This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:24 NIV)
As Sylvester and I were leaving our home in Anniston, Alabama, to go to our son’s home in Glencoe, Alabama (about 25 miles) to take care of Grant (our grandson), I made the statement that the weather man said there would be fog this A.M. Yet there was no fog as we left home, but the closer we got to Glencoe the more fog we encountered.
It would have been easy to complain about the weather (I love sunshine and 75 degree temperatures all year), but I thought this is the day that God has so freely given to me. In an hour or two the fog will be gone, the sun will be shining and what a day to serve the Lord!
A friend of mine who lived in Vermont related that as she walked to work she would sing the following song: “It’s a great day to be alive, a great day to be a-singing. I’ve got joy in my heart! I want the whole world to know, it’s a great day to be alive.”
Indeed, today is a great day to be alive! This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it! Regardless of the weather (rain, snow, fog, or sunshine), we know this is the day the Lord has made for us. It is great to be alive!
Dear Father, thank you for this beautiful day which you have created just for us that we may rejoice and be glad in it. Empower us to rejoice in this day’s blessings, the blessings of this moment. I pray this in the name of Jesus. AMEN
Be courageous today in this great day,
