That I Could Still Go Free

“I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death. Where, O death, are your plagues? Where, O grave, is your destruction? I will have no compassion, even though he thrives among his brothers. An east wind from the LORD will come, blowing in from the desert; his spring will fail and his well dry up. His storehouse will be plundered of all its treasures.” (Hosea 13:14-15 NIV)

Revisionists and Reconstruction artists do not like the word “everlasting.” They reject the idea that there is an eternal damnation and punishment. They have but one goal: make you doubt the punishment of sin. So, in their rejection of eternal punishment, they question whether there could be an everlasting Heaven. They doubt whether Believers will always remain in Heaven.

All the enemy of your soul has to do is create doubt. He doesn’t have to produce facts or undeniable empirical data. He just plants seeds of doubt and that is enough to change the course of your eternal destiny.

So, here is the bottom line: Nothing is safe from these revisionists. They will tear down your faith. They will take away your freedom. They will take away every blessing that God has covenanted to the children of God.

And God said, “I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death . . . I will not have compassion” (text verse). Jesus said, “Because I live, you shall live also.” As long as Christ lives we can still go free! As long as Christ is in Heaven we can still live with Him! As long as Christ is the Resurrection and the Life, we can still be resurrected and live! As long as Christ sits at the right hand of the Father, we will behold his glory and enjoy his presence!

From Hosea’s mouth, the Lord proclaimed there would be no compassion on the devil’s work (v.14). The devil would be plagued by the very work he employed. The devil would be destroyed by the very destruction he designed. And it all occurred at the Cross of Calvary! “Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death — that is, the devil — and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death” (Hebrews 2:14-15 NIV). You don’t have to fear death anymore, Christ said that you can still go free! You don’t have to be enslaved by sin anymore, Christ said that you can still go free!

A man on the Cross put you and me in his will and said that we could still go free!
His blood red stains broke all our chains and said that we could still go free!
As long as we have a relationship with the Resurrected Christ, we can still go free!

Dear Father, thank you for the Cross and the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Empower us with the confidence of his Resurrection. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN

Be courageous today in the resurrection of Christ,
