“Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.” (Philippians 4:4 KJV)
What a greeting! Don’t be depressed. Recognize the continuous blessings of God and rejoice about him and in him. Remember, God’s blessing enriches our soul and removes our sorrow (Pro. 10:22). That’s something to rejoice about.
God blesses his people and shields them with his favor (Psalm 5:12). In addition, He protects his people and never fails them. He is their right hand strength and preserves them from this world’s evil. And his protection is continuous as they go about their lives (Psalm 121:3-5,7,8). That’s reason to rejoice!
Note the divine prescription proclaimed upon God’s people by the priests, “The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace” (Numbers 6:24-26 KJV). Note also that as the priests spoke this divine blessing to God’s people, God’s name was being divinely inscribed upon them (Num. 6:27). That’s something to rejoice about.
With a daily diet of “bad news” issued by the media, we are assaulted with much tragedy, sadness, and sorrow. But, we lift up our heads and look towards the hills of God. This is where our strength resides (Psalm 121:1-2). He is our refuge and strength; an ever-present helper who destroys our fears (Psalm 46:1-3). And we know that we can approach him boldly with our requests for help in times of need (Hebrews 4:16). So, rejoice in the Lord always! And again I say, Rejoice!
Dear Father, thank you for the joy of the Lord. Empower us to rejoice continuously in your grace. This I ask in the name of Jesus. AMEN
Be encouraged today and rejoice in the Lord,
