Run to be a Winner

“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.”
1 Corinthians 9:24 (NIV)

Our goal determines our destination. C.S. Lewis wrote, “Aim at heaven, and you will get earth thrown in; Aim at earth, and you will get neither.”

Another way of saying it is, you won’t hit what you don’t aim for. The truth of reality, however, is that we may not achieve every goal we attempt but we will come closer to that goal if we aim for it and are disciplined. Now in terms of heaven, we have Jesus Christ who improves our aim. It is not because we have set heaven as our goal that it will be ours but because he achieved his goal of defeating death, hell and the grave on our behalf. HALLELUJAH!!!! We simply need to discipline ourselves to get the prize.

Dear Father, thank you for Jesus Christ, my Savior and Redeemer. Forgive me for my sin and deliver me from my own efforts to achieve salvation. Enable me to discipline myself to run this Christian race and win the prize. This I pray in Jesus’ name. AMEN

Let us praise God for eternal life and press toward our goal,

Pastor Smith
