Resolution of Fellowship (Jan. 9, 2006)

“And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.” Genesis 4:24 (KJV)

When Enoch was born, Yared probably never considered the impact his son would have upon their society. Yet Enoch became the example of Godliness in his generation. How does a person affect his society like that? The short answer is: “Walk with God,” but this requires further consideration for clarity. What does a “walk with God” entail? Careful analysis reveals a relationship with God. This relationship is an inscrutable intimacy between God and his companion. Love is the driving factor . . . mutual love between God and companion. God transforms his companion to such a level of righteousness that society cannot ignore it. The companion lives a consecrated lifestyle in communion with God. This covenant relationship enables the companion to enjoy continuous growth through humble submission, repentance and deliverance. His is a journey in grace that culminates in the resurrection.

The author of Hebrews teaches us that companionship with God requires obedience to God since Enoch’s contemporaries testified that “he pleased God” (Hebrews 11:5).
Clearly, walking with God produces evidence of this relationship. Each day he invites us to walk with him. Each day we should invite him to walk with us. By doing so, we achieve his will in our generation.

Dear Father, thank you for your grace and mercy. Thank you for wanting fellowship with us. Create in us a hunger and thirst for your fellowship. Grant that our relationship with you will affect our society for you. In Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN

Let us praise God for the relationship we have with him and stay in constant fellowship,

Pastor Smith
