Renewing Youth

“Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” (Psalm 103:1-5 KJV)

My grandson, 18 month old Grant, is a precious boy and full of life. He is a constant challenge to his Poppa (that’s me). I always thought I could outrun any toddler, but Grant has proven me wrong. He has more energy when he is ill than I do normally. Something has happened to me . . . age I think.

Grant has been ill for the last few days and in the doctor’s words, “he has an old-fashioned cold and it will pass in a few days.” Now, not only can he outrun Poppa, he can do so while fighting off a cold. I’m not feeling good about this. There is definitely something wrong with this picture!

The comfort I have is this: my physical body may be perishing, but my spiritual body is being renewed day by day. Hallelujah!!! You see, it is one of the benefits for which I bless the Lord! My memory may fail me, but I will not forget all his benefits. He forgives our iniquities. He heals our diseases. He redeems our life from the lake of fire. He crowns us with love, kindness, and mercy. He satisfies our mouths with good things. And O the joy of knowing that a renewal of my youth is coming!

“My hope is built on nothing les than Jesus’ blood and righteousness!” This body is weak, but I’m looking for a new body . . . a body that is strong . . . a body that will not get old or die. I am encouraged by the Apostle Paul who wrote, “We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak; Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you. For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God. For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day” (2Corinthians 4:13-1 KJV). “Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name!”

Dear Father, thank you for all your benefits. We bless your holy name today with all that is within us. Renew us O Lord, by your resurrecting power. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN

Be encouraged today by the Lord’s daily renewal of your strength,
