“This is the day the LORD has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24 (NKJV)
Rainy Mondays . . . not much positive to be said. Most people don’t think Monday should be a day of rejoicing anyway and the rain makes it worse. Cloudy and rainy. Rainy and cloudy. Stay in and keep dry. What else . . .?
Sure, we could say more but it would be depressing. Why not consider the day the Lord has made and be glad in it? Just think of all the things you can do in doors, in the dry. No grass to cut. No ditches to dig. No trees to prune. No exterior painting. Thank you, Lord, for the rain! At least the roof doesn’t leak.
Remember all those things you have put off for rainy days. Call a friend and encourage him/her. Make a list of things to do the next time it rains. Read the book of Leviticus. Re-arrange and organize a closet. Write a letter or send an email to your least favorite relative. Pray for your pastor. I sure you can come up with something creative . . .
This could be the day that you concentrate on rejoicing over all the blessings of the Lord. Nothing else to do? Count your many blessings! Name each of them and rejoice that God has blessed you. Despite the gloom, smile a while. Let your face rest! Cheer up those around you. They need it as much as you do . . . Or even if you don’t.
What a day this is! Walking with Jesus. Talking with Jesus. Listening to Jesus. It easy to look out the window and accept the gloom. It is just as easy to be glad and rejoice that God is alive . . . You’re alive . . . Family is well and safe . . . Food on the table . . . Necessities are supplied. What could possibly depress us. God is on our side! Rejoice! Again I say Rejoice!
Dear Father, thank you for this day. Rejuvenate us with the joy and gladness for today. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN
Be encouraged today, rejoice and be glad,
