“Praise
the LORD! Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in His mighty expanse. Praise
Him for His mighty deeds; Praise Him according to His excellent greatness.
Praise Him with trumpet sound; Praise Him with harp and lyre. Praise Him with
timbrel and dancing; Praise Him with stringed instruments and pipe. Praise Him
with loud cymbals; Praise Him with resounding cymbals. Let everything that has
breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD!” Psalm 150 (NAS)
sometimes wake up in the morning and feel that you have no song in your heart
or any joy that you can muster to face the day? So many things demand our time
and some mornings we are exhausted before we even began our day.
the times when we should relax, take a moment, pause and think of the psalmist
when he penned these words “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.” Do
we realize this includes all of creation? That’s right birds, dogs, cats,
squirrels, rabbits, horses, turtles, and yes, you and me. How good God is to
remind us every day of His love for us.
songwriter David Hodges wrote a song entitled: “Let Everything That Has Breath
Praise the Lord.” It is a song of thankfulness for all God has and is doing for
us. Note a verse and the chorus of Hodges’ lyrics and realize that we should be
praising God all day long, even when stressed with the prospects of a day that
is just beginning. Maybe, in the lyrics of his song, Hodges gives us a “first
thing to do.”

great way to begin the day: praising Him for His power, His might, His endless
love. The last verse of Psalm 150 says “Let every thing that has breath praise
the Lord. Praise ye the Lord”
praise the Lord “in the morning and evening.” Young and old can
equally praise the Lord! Whether experiencing joy or sorrow, the Lord is to be
praised. The Christian attitude is this: whatever the season of the soul,
whatever the moment’s circumstance, it is a good time to breathe praises unto
the Lord.
Father, thank you for giving us breath and abundant blessings. With all that is
within us we bless your holy name and give you praise! Empower our lives to be
sacrifices of worship unto you. I pray this in the name of Jesus. AMEN
