“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.” (Ephesians 6:10 NAS)
An unknown author has written, “Suffering colors life, but we can choose the color.” This author may be speaking from experience or not, we cannot tell. Such a viewpoint, however, is more about attitude and perspective than about either circumstances or choices.
Suffering is a physical and emotional obstacle to our beliefs and faith. We often take God for granted. We expect him to take the initiative and do all we desire. We forget his exhortations to pray and ask and believe, despite the circumstances. So, from time to time, a challenge to our faith is exactly what we need.
For people with deep-rooted faith in God, life’s challenges hold great expectations, every encounter with trouble and sorrow holds profound opportunity, each suffering event offers a personal message. But these challenges, encounters, and messages have to be recognized and possessed. One’s perspective in the challenges of life will determine how they are accepted, received, and possessed.
We can view our circumstances from doubt and depression, or from faith and fortitude in God. It is truly our choice. Of course, if we begin in doubt, we can change our minds and attitudes to end in faith.
Dear Father, thank you for empowering our faith and trust. Grant us the fortitude to achieve your purposes despite the obstacles in life. Remind us that you are with us and sustain us. In the name of Jesus I pray. AMEN
Be courageous and live in his power and strength,
