“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” Isaiah 26:3 (KJV)
“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, whose thoughts are fixed on you!” Isaiah 26:3 (NLT)
Victory! God-provided victory! What a marvelous concept! How do the hungry and thirsty obtain it? First, confidence in the provider is required. It is essential to trust that God is forming all our experiences to do us good. Trusting Him in the midst of the storms of this life produces that perfect peace, which “surpasses all understanding” (Phil. 4:7). Second, keeping our thoughts focused on the victory-giver is also necessary. What do we think about all day? Perhaps an honest evaluation of our thought habits may be in order. Is it possible that we need to reorder and realign them? The Apostle Paul exhorted us to “take every thought captive to obey Christ” (2 Cor. 10:5) It is possible to keep our minds fixed on Him, when we love and trust Him. The fixed mind should be more of a constant frame of mind than a minute-by-minute thinking. It is best seen in our attitudes, prayers and daily manner.
The fixed mind prays confidently. We petition God with the assurance that He hears and will respond in our best interest. We battle the enemy with the confidence that our victory is already won through Christ. We maintain a peaceful perspective because we trust the One who is our peace.
Dear God, I thank you for the blessings of confidence, trust and peace. Give me that faith, which will enable me to trust you more. Help me to capture all my thoughts and fix them on you. Thank you for this perfect peace that only you provide. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
Let us praise God for His plan and live for His purpose,
Pastor Smith
