Peace

The LORD says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue them and honor them. I will satisfy them with a long life and give them my salvation.”
Psalm 91:14-16 (NLT)

Are you a worrier? Do you always see the prospect of disaster? What about scary things under the bed? Behind the door? At work? On the highway? In your finances? Do you begin every sentence with “I’m afraid that . . .”? Then stay tuned, this verse is for you.

If you love God, our Lord Jesus Christ, then his promise to you is: I will rescue you. If you trust in his name, then he promises to protect you. When you call on him, he will respond to your call and remain with you in your trouble. As you honor him, he promises to rescue you and honor you. As you trust him, he promises to satisfy your fears with salvation and eternal life.

Often when we consider the usual adult worries: family issues; things at the office; finances; and our future, our fears and worries are much like a child’s monsters-under-the-bed. They are more imagined possibilities than real disasters in the making. When you get up in the morning, embrace the promise of the Lord and rebuke the anxieties of life. Throughout the hectic pace of your busy day, embrace the promise of the Lord and claim freedom from the anxieties of life. Right up until you lay your head to rest again, embrace the promise of the Lord and release the anxieties of life.

Dear Father, thank you for your promise to walk with us in our troubles. Empower us with the faith and trust to fully embrace your promises. Enable us to release the anxieties from our lives. Grant to us the peace that surpasses all understanding. This I pray in Jesus’ name. AMEN

Let us praise God for his promises and claim them in faith,
