Passion

“A bundle of
myrrh is my beloved to me, That lies all night between my breasts. My beloved
is to me a cluster of henna blooms In the vineyards of En Gedi. THE BELOVED
Behold, you are fair, my love! Behold, you are fair! You have dove’s eyes. THE
SHULAMITE Behold, you are handsome, my beloved! Yes, pleasant! Also our bed is
green. The beams of our houses are cedar, And our rafters of fir.” (Songs
of Solomon 1:13-17 NKJ)
Passion . . . the
missing element. Christianity’s continuing pursuit. Passion for the Lamb who
takes away the sin of the world. Passion for a lost and dying world. Passion to
grow in the Lord. Passion to worship in spirit and in truth. Passion . . .
Love is a flame! A
ring of fire! It burns and burns and burns. The stronger love is the more
intense passion becomes. One merely has to read Solomon’s words in his Songs in
order to know this is true.
In 1965, English pop
singer Petula Clarke gave the world “My Love.” Note the smoldering
passion in the chorus.
“My love is
warmer than the warmest sunshine, softer than a sigh
My love is deeper
than the deepest ocean, wider than the sky
My love is brighter
than the brightest star that shines every night above
And there is nothing
in this world that can ever change my love.”
Ah, the blossom of
love? Lovers have no problem expressing passion. Lovers don’t worry or care what
people think. Lovers smell so good! Lovers are as beautiful as any rose in the
garden. Lovers can talk about their love ad infinitum.
Love is not passive!
Love acts passionately. Love commits passionately. Love is intimate. Love is
exciting. Love will make you blush. Love builds strong homes. Love is solid and
safe. (read more at 1 Corinthians 13)
Dear Father, thank
you for the passion you expressed for us at Calvary. Empower us to be equally
passionate for Christ. I ask this in the name of Jesus. AMEN
Be passionate for
Christ today,
