“Whatever your hands finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the grave, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.” Ecclesiastes 9:10 (NIV)
Do you ever wonder where you might have an opportunity to witness for Christ? Our opportunities exist virtually everywhere while we live. After death, there will be no more opportunities to do what we will wish we had done. An unknown author wrote, “Live today as you will wish you had lived it when you stand before God.” What a great exhortation!
Isn’t there someone who could use your service today? Maybe a comforting word of encouragement to a co-worker or colleague. Maybe a visit to a widow or an orphan or some other hurting person. Maybe a smile for that teller at the bank or a person in the check-out line at the grocery store. Maybe a member of your family or your church that needs special care for a while. Seek and you will find an opportunity to serve Christ by serving others.
Paul sent Epaphroditus back to the Church at Philippi. This Philippian brother had been sick and almost died serving Christ by ministering to Paul’s needs (Phil. 2:25-30). He is a great example of doing “with all your might” what we find to do. When Epaphroditus stands before the Judge of All Judges, don’t you think he might be happy that he chose to live his life the way he did?
Dear Father, thank you for the opportunities you give to us each day. Thank you for Epaphroditus and the example he left us. Empower us to take advantage of every opportunity to minister to those in need. I pray this in the name of Jesus. AMEN
Be courageous today in your opportunities,
