Offering Our Best

“By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.” (Heb 11:4 KJV)

From time to time we think about how we want to live our lives on the highest level possible. If we are not careful, we will ignore the effect of our ordinary everyday activity. We go about our lives according to our busy schedules, doing what we do without considering the impact on those around us.

Helen Keller said, “When we do the best that we can, we never know what miracle is wrought in our life, or in the life of another.” We are doing our best in the pursuit of our purpose, endeavoring to achieve our goals. And as we do so, miracles happen frequently in our lives and to those around us.

We are not simply trading away the only life we know. We are making a difference because of the purpose and direction of our lives and ministries. Perhaps we might want to seek the Lord for more strength and power to achieve greater results for his glory.

It is certainly a great tragedy if we do not know our purpose in life. It is disastrous, however, if we are not living and achieving it everyday. Of course, we could excuse ourselves by claiming that God is in control and will get his will done in every case. Yet, such excuses fail to consider that God designed us to participate — actively not passively — in the achievement of his will.

As we go through our daily schedules, don’t you think we should keep in touch with the quality of our work? Don’t you think the most important things in our lives should never be sacrificed to those less important ones? What sort of testimony do our lives offer to God and others?

Dear Father, thank you for the miracle of your salvation through Jesus Christ. Empower us to see the miracles occurring everyday in our lives. Help us to relate the impact to our actions. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN

Be courageous today by offering your best,
