“Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?” Matthew 6:27 (KJV)
Have you ever thought about your height? We usually are very concerned with our weight and ignore our height. Doctors say that the human spine compresses as we get older. The shrinkage causes us to lose height over time. It is simply a natural process of aging, but that doesn’t help the ego.
After his annual medical exam, Wayne called his wife and told her “the bad news.” When she found out he was only losing height she exclaimed, “Don’t scare me like that!” and hung up on him. He deserved it.
All is vain including the human ego. Vanity will make people do some pretty stupid things. Just think of all the occurrences of vanity that you know about. Case closed. We all hate being caught in the vanity trap. Perhaps we hate it more than losing height.
So, look around at the people you interact with today. All sorts of people. Different races, different sizes, different styles of dress, different ages. No two of us are the exact same. This is marvelous! It is tremendous! People are funny. People are strange. People are beautiful. And you are one of them. It is an incredible thing that we fit in perfectly just as we are. God has made us and not we ourselves. Yes, indeed, we are blessed.
Dear Father, thank you for your mercy and grace. Thank you for who we are and how you have made us. Enable us to grow and develop into the very image of your Son. Empower us with grace to live our lives uninhibited by vanity. This I pray in Jesus’ name. AMEN
Let us praise God for his plan and live to achieve his purpose,
