“Though he slay me, I will hope in him” Job 13:15 (ESV)
Sally carefully wiped her eyes. The tears had flowed so long that her eyes hurt. How could God have failed her? How could anything so painful and upsetting be for her good? Surely God’s wisdom and power had failed her. Maybe he didn’t even exist.
This last thought jarred Sally. Then she began to rebuke the enemy. Of course God existed. The whole of the universe proclaimed him. Sally began to ask the Holy Spirit to help her see straight, to recognize God’s wisdom, and to understand his works in her situation. After her prayer, Sally reminded herself that God had not promised her a problem-free life. She thought about His purpose for her life and how that achieving it was more important than her personal comforts. She decided to retain her hope in God no matter what.
Dear Father, thank you for your grace and mercy. Through the storms of life, enable me to trust you. Give me the fortitude to react responsibly to the troubles that inhabit my life. Help me see straight. Help me recognize your wisdom at work. Help me to yield to your work in my life. I pray this in Jesus’ name. AMEN
Let us praise God for the hope we have in him and stand strong,
