Hearing the Voice of God

“In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe.” Hebrews 1:1-2 (NIV)

Someone has written, ”Conscience is how God speaks to us.” Our conscience is, of course, only one way that God speaks to us personally. It is important to remember that no matter the tool of communication, the message must agree with Scripture and what God’s son has said. Paul taught that our conscience could both be deceived and deceive us [Romans 2:15; 1Timothy 4:2; Titus 1:15, Hebrews 9:14]. Therefore, we should examine the message in light of scriptural truth.

Dear Father, thank you for your son, Jesus Christ who is the clear expression of your being. Forgive me for those times when I have not listened to him. Deliver me from a deaf conscience. Empower me to clearly hear your voice. I pray this in Jesus’ name. AMEN

Let us praise God for a sanctified conscience and live to listen to his voice,

Pastor Smith
