Hanging Out With God

“He humbled you and let you be hungry, and fed you with manna which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that He might make you understand that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of the LORD.” Deuteronomy 8:3 (NAU)

Diderot wrote, “We are far more likely to catch the vices than the virtues of our associates.” The point is those with whom I hang out will have a strong impact on whom I become. We see this clearly in the lives of Adam, Enoch, Moses and Abraham. They all had face-to-face relationship with God. Most Christians believe that these were exceptions to normal relations with God. He never intended them to be exceptions however. Rather, God wants me to enjoy his personal presence and fellowship. This personal relationship will only exist between us when I began to “live by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.” Hanging out with God will make a difference in whom I become.

Dear Father, thank you for the gift of personal fellowship with you. Forgive me for the times I have failed to listen to your voice. O, Lord, speak to me the truths that I need most to hear. Help me to know the right time and place for our conversation. This I ask in Jesus’ name. AMEN

Let us praise God for a personal relationship and live in constant fellowship with him,

Pastor Smith
