God’s Works and Riches

“O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.” Psalm 104:24 (KJV)

The work of God is beyond human comprehension. His work is so multi-faceted and so great and so multiplied that we are chasing ourselves in circles trying to figure it all out. Why can’t we simply, by faith, agree with the Psalmist that God’s wisdom is beyond our understanding? Why can’t we simply agree that his is a wise creation?

Despite our finite understanding of God’s infinite wisdom, this earth that He created is indeed full of his riches. Just look around you and count the many ways that you are blessed by the beauty of his creations. Consider the infinite, minute details of the universe that continues uninterrupted because God created them and controls their functions.

Skeptics would claim that the immensity of it all is so huge that no one being could create it or control it, but they fail to believe in an all-powerful Creator who loves his creation. “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him” (Heb. 11:6 NIV). Anyone who refuses to believe that God exists will naturally not believe that this universe was created by him. And he/she will not be rewarded with God’s wisdom about God’s creation because the skeptic doesn’t search for answers where he/she doesn’t believe that answers exist. You cannot get answers if you believe the One with the answers doesn’t exist!

The issue is not a scientific issue. The issue is a faith issue . . . a worship issue . . . a relationship issue. I have faith in God. And because I believe that He exists, I worship God. And because I believe in and worship God, He has developed a relationship with me. The naysayers have come to late to convince me otherwise. God’s riches in this earth and my life are beyond my ability to contain them. “O LORD, how manifold are your works”!

Dear Father, thank you for your creation and its resultant riches. Empower us with grace and humility to accept all that you have said in your record. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN
