God’s Preserving Help

“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.” Psalm 121 (KJV)

“Lift up your eyes. God wants to bless you in inconceivable ways to make your life what you never dreamed it could be.” -Anne Ortlund [Adapted]

When doors seem to close and our paths obstructed, we tend to think it is not God’s will to continue. However, closed doors and obstacles may be God’s way of directing our eyes to his hills. He may be wanting us to depend upon him for help. It is important to know where to look for help. It is even more important to look for it in the right place.

He who does not sleep on the job will protect us from disaster. He who is our provider will give us rest and peace. He who never grows weary will be with us now and forever. He is our help and our strength.

Dear Father, thank you for your preserving help. Strengthen us with the memory of your provision and protection. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN
