“Now we pray to God that you do no wrong; not that we ourselves may appear approved, but that you may do what is right, even though we may appear unapproved.” 2 Corinthians 13:7 (NAS)
Consider this simple prayer, “Lord, when we are wrong, make us willing to change. And when we are right, make us easy to live with.” It exposes the two faces of pride. When we are wrong, pride makes it difficult for us to change. When we are right, pride creates an arrogant, irritating attitude that makes us difficult to live with. How we deal with the pride of life will determine how we deal with others, and ultimately how we deal with God.
What a great desire for ourselves and our friends . . . to be kept from the evil of sin . . . that we do no wrong. Remember, it is more important to pray that we not do wrong than to pray that we not suffer wrong.
No excuses . . . the Apostle’s words clearly teach that not doing wrong is possible and to be desired. I conclude then that this should be a daily concern and prayer. Daily we need God’s enabling grace to do what is right, even if others don’t approve.
Dear Father, thank you for your grace. Keep us from doing wrong today and everyday. I pray this in the name of Jesus. AMEN
Be encouraged today with God’s approval,
