God Is With Us

“Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.” (Psalm 139:7-10 ESV)

Charlene walked up the sidewalk to her house glowing. She could hardly contain her excitement as she told her husband about her new promotion and raise. Together they danced arm in arm around the kitchen table as they contemplated what it would mean to them financially. Suddenly Charlene stopped and listened. Despite their squeals of glee she had heard a calm, quiet voice speak. “Slow down now. Trust me and I’ll guide you.” When we soar on the wings of blessings and jubilation, God is there leading us with his own hand.

Across town, Ross sat so depressed that he wanted to die. His employer had just given him the pink slip and he couldn’t fathom what his family would do. They had just closed on a new, larger home last week but now, how could they even move in? He began to write the note. He loved his family. He couldn’t see any other way out. Then through his fog of confusion and despair a quiet, calm voice spoke peace to him. “Calm down. This is not the solution. Trust me and I’ll make a way.” When we are swamped in the depths of gloom and depression, God is there sustaining us with his own hand.

What ever the circumstances — when ever it happens — where ever we go – God is there! Someone said, “God gives his best to those who leave the choice to him.” That’s the victory for those who walk in his presence.

Dear Father, thank you for the confidence of your presence. Empower us to trust you in all our circumstances of life. “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow (us) all the days of (our) lives and (we) shall dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.” This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN

Be courageous today because God is with you,
