“I am like a green fir tree. From me is thy fruit found.” Hosea 14:8 (KJV)
Today is good day to reflect upon our God. Consider how we might describe him. God is like . . . Oh, sure you can finish the sentence. Simply say what God is like to you. To Hosea, God described himself as being like a green fir tree. Think about it. What attributes of a green fir tree resemble God?
The fir tree is majestic. God is majesty personified. The fir tree is green and alive. God is life. He has defeated death, hell, and the grave. The fir tree is green in all seasons: spring, summer, fall, and winter. And it continues to be green year after year. God is eternal. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever!
Look around. Can you discover other illustrations that accurately describe God? Perhaps, it is better to start with reflecting on what God is like to you. Who is he? What are his attributes? How does he act? What has he done?
Dear Father, we praise you for who you are. Thank you for being our source of life. Empower us with your grace and mercy. This I pray in Jesus’ name. AMEN
Let us praise God for who he is and live to his glory,
