Full of Hope

“Unto thee, O LORD, do I lift up my soul. O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me. Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause. Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.” Psalm 25:1-5 (KJV)

What a prayer! Approaching God in earnest. Full of devotion and love. Full of desire for God’s grace and attention. Full of active faith in God’s promises. Full of trust in God’s strength and power. Full of hope in God.

Because we have hope in God, we entrust our soul to God. We boldly approach God with firm determination, focused thought, and active faith. We turn to God with a holy contempt for the world and worldly lusts. We set our desires before God knowing that He is our fountain of happiness and satisfaction. We “wait on” (place our hope in) God.

We plead for divine benefits and comforts because we hope in him. No confidence in ourselves or any other creature. God is our God! He satisfies those who come to him. Hope in God dispels all fear of evil. Hope in God calms our spirits!

Note this: If our confidence is in God, we will not be ashamed. We will be victorious! Our enemies will always be ashamed. They will never triumph over us! We are full of hope!

Now, because of our hope in God, we go to him asking for guidance and instruction. “O Lord, show me your ways . . . teach me your path.” There is safety in his character and way of life. O to be like him!

To make such requests, we must know ourselves. Remember: hope in God requires more knowledge of God. Only God can teach us about God. What’s more, those who hope in God desire to be taught by him. We must be ever learning of him so that we may be transformed by him. He is our full salvation!

Dear Father, thank you for our salvation through Jesus Christ. Show us your character and how to live our lives. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN

Be encouraged today full of hope in God,
