From Darkness To Light

“While you have the light, believe in the light, so that you may become children of light.” After Jesus had said this, he departed and hid from them. Although he had performed so many signs in their presence, they did not believe in him. John 12:36-37 (NRS)

One might think that all the miracles Jesus had done would have convinced everyone who saw them. Certainly, raising Lazarus from the dead should have been sufficient to establish his identity. But many still did not believe in him.

It just proves that some will not believe God no matter how much evidence is reported. And because of their obstinate rejection, He hardens their heart, blocks their understanding, and hinders their faith.

Although some did not believe, there were many who did, even among the religious leaders. Yet they were intimidated by the Pharisees and would not publicly confess their faith in Christ. Their fear of excommunication defeated their faith. Their love of human accolades and approval overcame their desire for God’s approval.

“I have come as Light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness” (v.46).

Faith is not about seeing miracles. Faith is the conviction of the miracle-worker’s identity. Faith is leaving the darkness and entering the light. Realize today that God is hovering in our darkness, understanding our questions, ready to fully reveal Christ to us.

Dear Father, thank you for your grace and mercy. Thank you for the Light, Jesus Christ of Calvary. Empower us with faith and deliver us from darkness. This I pray in Jesus’ name. AMEN

Let us praise God for the Light and refuse to live in darkness,
