Faith and Prayer

Jeremiah 32:17 “Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, You have made the heavens and the
earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for
You.” (Jeremiah 32:17 NKJ)

The prayers of the saints are sweet fragrances to the
Lord. Once in awhile, God’s message to us, whether through a sermon or a word
of knowledge, is somewhat confusing. This is what happened here with Prophet
Jeremiah. He had faithfully delivered God’s message, yet upon reflection
Jeremiah could not reconcile the issues, so he placed his perplexity before
God.

What disturbed Jeremiah was not his own loss of land, but
the severe discipline decreed for his nation. It seems that he prayed in hope for
God’s mercy. If God had so much mercy in store for Judah later, as he had
promised, surely he would not proceed with such severity against them now as he
had threatened.

Jeremiah was overwhelmed with anxiety about the meaning
of God’s intentions, and so he prays. Whatever is a burden to our soul can be “cast”
on him for he cares for us (1 Peter 5:7). And while we must humble ourselves “under
the mighty hand of God” (1 Peter 5:6), we can also “come boldly unto the throne
of grace” (Hebrews 4:16). And in all cases, we “ask in faith nothing wavering”
(James 1:6).

With Jeremiah, consider that God is the Creator of
everything. Therefore, no thing or person can stop his power, mercy and will.
Who can force God? He is all-powerful! Nothing exists but the creations of his
hands (John 1:3). He is the Only Maker of heaven and earth!

And consider, there is nothing too difficult for him. Not
the present world events. Not our personal family issues. Not the Church’s
conundrums. Not anything at any time! We humans have our limitations, but “with
God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26). So we pour out our soul unto the
Lord knowing that he will listen and respond.

Dear Father, thank you for listening to us. Empower us to
bring all our petitions to you in non-wavering faith. This I pray in the name
of Jesus. AMEN
