Earnestly Pay Attention

“Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. ” Hebrews 2:1 (KJV)

We have heard so much since Jesus ascended back to the Father’s house. The author of Hebrews is pointing to the issue of listening to God and not letting any of it slip by us.

In fact, if God “Has spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things (v.2)” then we should earnestly pay attention to what Jesus said so that we would let nothing slip that he commanded.

There is a lot of information floating around about angels. Evidently much error was also being promoted among first century believers. Since Jesus was ” made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they, (v.4)” we should earnestly pay attention to him instead of them.

Who we listen to and allow to influence us is extremely important.

Dear Father, thank you for your son, our Savior and Lord. Grant that we may listen attentively to him alone. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN

Be encouraged today in the Son of God,
