“So it was,
that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered.
And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths,
and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.”
(Luke 2:6-7 NKJ)

The Scotsman was in
touch with the BBC by underground radio. He whispered three simple words in the
American’s ear: “THEY HAVE COME!” The reaction was incredible. As
that message spread among the allied prisoners, they began to jump up and down,
shouting, laughing and rolling on the ground in joy.

The German soldiers
must have thought they were crazy. After all, they were still prisoners and
nothing outwardly had changed. Inwardly, everything was now different for they
had received the news of the D-Day invasion. Freedom was within their grasp.

Mary’s baby
“became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,”
(Hebrews 5:9 NKJ). His “author” position is not merely the beginning
or the one who goes before. His authorship is about creating our eternal
salvation. It is about delivering us from eternal damnation into eternal
salvation. He’s our author because he’s our deliverer!

Christmas season for our deliverer has come. Mary delivered her firstborn son
so that he would deliver us from our sins. He has gone before us, leaving a
trail from Calvary through the Resurrection to eternal life. Freedom is ours!

Dear Father, thank
you for delivering your Son to be our eternal salvation. Deliver us from every
evil and forgive us every sin. I pray this in the name of Jesus. AMEN
