“Yet in all
these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am
persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor
powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any
other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is
in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:37-39 NKJ)

During WWII, British
Prime Minister Winston Churchill said to a graduating class, “Never give in . .
. never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never
give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force .
. . never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.”

With all the
situations that confront me every day, it would be easy to retreat from life
and hide in a cave or on a beach somewhere. Yet, such good counsel from both
Scripture and Churchill helps me resist the enemy’s whispers.

I do not minimize
the efforts of the enemy to defeat me and others. He is insidious in his work
against us. But I magnify God’s work on my behalf. I am on God’s team and his
team never, ever loses. He is the conqueror who defeats all enemies!

And despite the
personal circumstances I face today, I will not succumb to them, because God is
on my side. The adversary may rage and roar against me, but God is for me! God
is in my camp! God is my protector! God is my deliverer! So take that enemies of
God!

The songwriter wrote
these words, “Turn your eyes upon Jesus. Look full in his wonderful face and
the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of his glory and
grace.” In him there is victory! In him there is encouragement! I will look in
his face and never, never, never, never, never give up.

Dear Father, thank
you for placing me on your team. Empower me with courage and fortitude for
today’s challenges. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN
