“Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and sympathetic? Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one heart and purpose. Don’t be selfish; don’t live to make a good impression on others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourself. Don’t think only about your own affairs, but be interested in others, too, and what they are doing. Your attitude should be the same that Christ Jesus had.” Philippians 2:1-5 (NLT)
The believer is unified with Christ. Isn’t that an exciting concept? Are we encouraged by it? To know the love of Christ that comforts us beyond every other comfort. Oh, the comfort of that love! It is a comfort that goes beyond every other comfort. And the fellowship of the Spirit, how sweet it is! There is nothing like it in this world. The fellowship so tender and compassionate is beyond human comprehension.
When we exercise the same spirit and attitude, the joy of the Lord overflows to its fullest extent. When God’s people treat each other with love and exercise the spirit of a unified purpose, he experiences an overflowing joy. Can’t you just see Jesus dancing a jig of joy? If it is exciting for us to experience his blessings, how much more exciting it must be for him when we bless his spirit.
Perhaps we should forget about our selfishness and vanity. Perhaps an humble consideration of others might be just what Dr. Jesus prescribed.
When I think about Jesus and what he has done for me, it makes me want an attitude like his. Oh Lord, help me attain it today!
Dear Father, thank you for your love and mercy and grace. Transform us and our attitudes O Lord. We ask this in Jesus’ name. AMEN
Let us praise God for his consideration of us and live in consideration of him,
