Confidence in God

“O LORD, how many are my foes! Many are rising against me; many are saying to me, “There is no help for you in God.” Selah
But you, O LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts up my head.
I cry aloud to the LORD, and he answers me from his holy hill. Selah
I lie down and sleep; I wake again, for the LORD sustains me. I am not afraid of ten thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around. Rise up, O LORD! Deliver me, O my God! For you strike all my enemies on the cheek; you break the teeth of the wicked. Deliverance belongs to the LORD; may your blessing be on your people! Selah” Psalm 3 (NRS)

Perhaps we can all identify with King David. He was opposed from every corner, even his own son had rebelled against him. Some of his enemies were even prophesying that God was not going to deliver him. Think about it. Note that King David was not going to give up so easily. He knew that God always answers his prayers. Consider his confidence!

He was so convinced of God’s care that he could sleep in the comfort of God’s sustaining strength. He was not going to submit to fear, no matter how large the enemy force. After a good night’s sleep, he called on God to deliver him from his enemies. He understood that deliverance comes from the Lord. May we follow King David’s example.

Dear Father, thank you for your deliverance through Jesus Christ. O God, deliver us from every temptation and evil. May your blessings continue to be on your people. In Jesus’ name. AMEN

Let us praise God for the comfort of his Word and live to his glory,
