Comfort

“Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.” John 16:7 & 13-14 (KJV)

The adversary of our soul would like for us to believe that God is so great and majestic and holy that he will not condescend to our level. Therefore, we must be masters of our own destiny and able to manipulate our lives by our own standards. He wants to convince us that the concept of God dealing personally with a human being is utterly preposterous. Our adversary knows that our cooperation with the Comforter from God will solidify our relationship with God and deliver us from evil influence and power.

When we yield to the Holy Spirit’s guidance, we become aware of our failures, the sin that so easily traps us, and the way of escape. He gives us power to serve Christ, resist temptations, and live lives of victory. In addition, he leads us in paths of righteousness and truth. What a comfort!

Dear Father, thank you for your grace and mercy. Thank you for send us your Comforter. Enable us to yield ourselves to his guidance. This I pray in Jesus’ name. AMEN

Let us praise God for his Comforter and let him guide our lives,
