“And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.” Luke 2:4-7 (KJV)
T’was the day before Christmas and all through the town,
Everyone was stirring and scurrying and running around.
Joy to the world the stores are still open.
Hark, the herald cash drawer rings.
Peace on earth? Not today, last minute shopping is intense.
Goodwill to men? Not today, if they get in our way.
Tonight will be a silent night, you can count on it.
O, little town of Mayhem lets sleep and snore a bit.
Away in the manger, the kids are very restless.
But what to their sleepless minds should appear?
“O holy night, it is the night of the great Santa’s ride.”
Despite all our rushing to and fro,
Fond memories will come and most of us will go
To candlelight services and family gatherings
And be reminded of Christmas peace and joy and hope.
Dear Father, thank you for your Christmas gift to all humanity. Bless all of us this Christmas season with the memory of peace and joy and hope. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN
Merry Christmas!
May you enjoy peace and joy and hope!
