Bring Glory To Christ

“Dearly
beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts,
which war against the soul; Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles:
that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works,
which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.” (1 Peter
2:11-12 KJV)

I am travelling
today to Toronto, Ontario, Canada to teach in a seminar on ministry and
ministry skills. As I thought about it and packed my bags, my travel prospects
reminded me of our text passage.

It reminded me that
I am a “stranger and pilgrim” in this world. I thought about how my
actions and behaviors impact those around me. I wondered whether my conduct
among believers and unbelievers was honest.

I wondered whether
my testimony shined the light of God’s glory in their lives. I am trying to be
circumspect. I am trying to obey Christ’s teaching in all things. I am walking
in grace trying to follow the Lord’s example.

Even if people
around me make evil accusations against me, will my good works testify to the
glory of God when he returns? That is my focus and goal. It’s why I do what I
do. It is why I live by his standards.

Dear Father, thank
you for your grace and mercy. Empower us to live so that we bring glory to your
name. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN

Be strong and
courageous today bringing glory to Christ,
