“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” (Genesis 1:1-2 KJV)
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.” (John 1:1-5 KJV)
The beginning was in God. It was God who moved on the face of the empty, void of nothingness and created the heavens and earth from it. All that has been created, God created it otherwise it wouldn’t exist.
The Eternal Logos was there at the beginning and participated in the creative events. Humanity, on the other hand, was created by him and was subjected to a finite existence which ends in physical death. These weak physical bodies are not eternal and his eternal “body” was not mortal . . . until He took on human flesh as a baby born in a Bethlehem stable.
Who was this one who journeyed among humanity healing disease and delivering from sin? Who was this one who spoke the world into existence yet yielded himself to hang on a tree which He had created? Who is this one who suffered death and darkness yet gives light and life? Who is this one who is resurrected and sat down at the right hand of the Father? Who is this one who is coming back again?
Who is this one that makes it possible for our mortal bodies to shed mortality and receive immortality? Who is this one that transforms us from corruptible humans into incorruptible persons? Who takes away the sins of the world and issues righteousness? Who? The Eternal Word, Jesus Christ, that’s who.
This is why we should proclaim with Paul, “God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world” (Galatians 6:14 KJV).
Dear Father, thank you for Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Empower us with the faith and fortitude to proclaim his salvation in all the earth. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN
Be courageous today in your boasting of Christ,
