We are Christ’s ambassadors, and God is using us to speak to you. We urge you, as though Christ himself were here pleading with you, “Be reconciled to God!” 2 Corinthians 5:20 (NLT)
Reconciliation. What a marvelous concept! The fouled, unholy, guilty wretch is being given the opportunity to reconcile with the one who has been wronged. The problem for the guilty party, however, is that he/she needs some way of returning to a holy, faithful state. The problem expands further because no one on this earth could fit the bill for bridging the chasm between sinful, guilty humans and a holy God. So God fixed the guilty party’s problem. He provided a holy intermediary that could bridge the gap between Himself and humanity.
Who is this intermediary from heaven? His name is Jesus Christ. He embodied God’s plan of reconciliation. The holy one sacrificed for the unholy ones. The innocent one took the punishment reserved for the guilty ones. The innocent died so that the guilty might live. The righteous took upon himself the sins of the unrighteous so that the unrighteous could receive God’s righteousness. This is the essence of reconciliation. Is it any wonder that we glorify and praise Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior? Hallelujah to his holy name!
It is also a marvelous honor that he has chosen us as his representatives. His plan is that those who enjoy his reconciliation would urge others to also be reconciled to God. To those sensitive souls who think they are not worthy to serve him, let us say that God does not exclude those who reconcile themselves to him. This is true no matter how flawed, how warped, or how sinful one may be. Our worthiness is not the issue. The issue is that God provided a way for us to return to Him. Will you accept the Way?
Dear Father and our God, thank you for providing reconciliation through Christ. Enable all those who read these words to be reconciled to you today. Empower us to truly be your ambassadors. Help us to urge others to be reconciled to you. In the name of Jesus I pray. AMEN
Be encouraged today in God’s reconciliation plan,
