“Jehovah is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.” Nahum 1:7 (DBY)
Over the last several weeks, we have endured a lot of severe weather. When the lightening flashes and the thunder crashes, there is usually reason for concern. Many families go to their storm shelters or to the safest room in their houses. It is important for us to be wise and protect our families as best we can. It is also a good time to pray. We commit ourselves anew to our stronghold. Trouble may come, disaster may strike, and the enemy may rage up and down, but our stronghold, Jesus Christ, knows us. He knows that we trust in him.
The Apostle Paul wrote to the Church at Thessalonica, “in everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus towards you;” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (DBY).
May that be our response to the storms of life.
Dear Father, thank you for your grace and mercy. Thank you for being my stronghold. Grant that I may give thanks to you in every situation and circumstance of my life and ministry. Empower me to remember that your will for me, in Christ Jesus, is that I will be a grateful person. Enable me with an attitude of gratitude in words and deeds. In Jesus’ name, I pray. AMEN
Let us praise God for his will, in Christ Jesus, and live for his purpose,
Pastor Smith
