“Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield. For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name. Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.” Psalm 33:20-22 (KJV)
We are experiencing the passage of time as the first month of 2009 comes to an end. Wow! A whole month already passed! Our lives have been impacted by many events and circumstances since we welcomed the New Year in. Many of us are facing tough situations and the difficulties of this uncertain economy. How will the next eleven months unfold?
The songwriter penned these words of faith and hope: “I don’t know about tomorrow, but I know who holds my hand.” Note the encouragement of the Psalmist: O Lord, give us mercy according to our hope in you. What an interesting point. Our hope in God somehow affects the mercy He issues to us. Mercy according to our hope in you. Yet, the Psalmist continues, Because we trust in His name, our hearts will overflow with joy. No matter the circumstance that come and go in 2009, we will rejoice because we trust God, who supplies all our needs from His riches in glory. He is our protection and our support. So, in faith we simply wait for (depend on) the Lord. He has promised that He would never leave us nor forsake us. And our God does not lie! All His promises are ours: Yes and Amen!
Dear Father, thank you for your continual help and protection. Grant that we may continually rejoice in your grace and mercy. Bless all those who read these words with a strong hope. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN
Be encouraged today with a strong hope,
